#143 – Vertax Tuto – Stopover

This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.

The stopover is a trick that you will use all the time in vertical play, it is mainly used to change directions to exit or enter tricks.

Warning: this tutorial is written for righties, so if you are left handed don’t forget to switch right for left and left for right.

Prerequisites

Step By Step Explanation

  1. Unwrap the diabolo.
  2. Push it to the other side of the string.
  3. Hold the tension when the diabolo is close to the left stick. Remember to keep the stick parallel to the ground. The diabolo does not need to land back on the string like in a normal trapeze.
  4. Push the diabolo back towards your right side.
  5. Rewrap.

What To Learn Next?

Now that you have mastered the stopovers (on the left AND on the right), you can go learn every other trick! The stopover is either the way to enter a trick or is needed at the end to go back to the chinese acceleration position.

I would suggest to start with suns, the UFO grind, some magic knots or the slowcide. And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try the genocide.
