This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.
The chinese acceleration is the most efficient way to give speed to your diabolo. It takes some time to master, but it is well worth the effort!
This trick is easier to learn with a fairly new string as it will be more slippery and allow for more inaccuracies with the wrap.
As always the tutorial is described for righties so if you are left handed switch right and left in the step by step explanation.
Prerequisites
Step By Step Explanation
1. Do an internal wrap.
2. Lift your right wrist up swiftly. This will lift the diabolo upwards. The movement is similar to the whip acceleration, but it’s up and down instead of left to right.
3. When the diabolo reaches the top of your head, pull the diabolo back down using your right wrist and pointing the stick downwards. Your left arm does nothing, just keep your left wrist a bit loose to absorb the shock.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for as long as you wish to accelerate.
5. Unwrap the diabolo and enjoy its fast spin!
