The loop knot is a magic knot and a stick release trick that, once mastered, unlocks a lot of possibilities. It is called the loop knot because you’re in the same position as the loop (#14) except you hold one stick with the string.
As always, the tutorial is written for righties, so if you are left-handed, don’t forget to swap left for right and vice versa in the step by step explanation.

1. Start by doing a suicide.
2. Instead of catching the stick, grab the string between the diabolo and the flying stick.
3. Let the stick and string go under the diabolo.
4. Catch the stick with your right hand, while still holding the string. You are now in the free string position, meaning if you release the string you’re holding, the diabolo will drop.
5. Throw the diabolo to the side, releasing the knot.
6. Catch the diabolo.
