This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.
An orbit, as the name suggests, is a trick where the diabolo has a regular, repeating path around something (arm, leg, …). In this trick, the diabolo orbits around both your arms.
The 2 arms orbit, like any orbits done clockwise for righties (or anti-clockwise for lefties), gives spin to your diabolo. It’s a body move, so it helps if your string is on the longer side.
As always the tutorial is described for righties so if you are left handed switch right and left in the step by step explanation.
Prerequisites
Step By Step Explanation
1. Start by doing a right arm orbit.
2. During the orbit, when the diabolo first touches the string on your right, point your left elbow in front of you. When travelling the string, the weight of the diabolo will help create the space for you to move your left arm in the orbit position.
3. Let your diabolo roll towards your left stick.
4. Throw the diabolo above your arms to your right. Your left wrist is doing all the work, going from left to right pointing the left stick up when throwing the diabolo and going back down to the left when catching the diabolo. This is the exact same movement you’re doing in the one arm orbit.
5. Catch the diabolo as close to the right stick as possible. That way the diabolo has more time to roll to the left stick which slows down the trick and gives more speed to the diabolo. This part is a bit tricky as the amount of string you have to catch the diabolo is about a third of the length you normally have for a regular throw and catch.
6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 for as long as you want.
