This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.
The bridge is a cradle (ie a knot) with a grind and a stick release. It’s a pretty cool trick that is easy to learn. It is a nice crowd pleaser because if you have a lot of speed, your left hand will be free for a long time and you can wave to the audience, push your glasses up your nose or do whatever you want !
As always the tutorial is described for righties so if you are left handed switch right and left in the step by step explanation.
Prerequisites
Step By Step Explanation
1. Give a lot of speed to your diabolo. You will need it to have time to do the cradle and have enough spin to do the grind after that.
2. Start in the open string position, with your sticks parallel to the ground, pointing at each other and aligned with the string.
3. Keep your left stick in place and bring your right stick between you and the left stick.
4. Go over the left stick with the right stick, making sure the string is on top of the left grip. The string is forming a V.
5. Bring the right stick down (in front of the left stick) lower than the middle of the V and bring your left stick over the right stick, in front of it and under the diabolo. Your hands are “pedaling” forwards.
6. Let the diabolo rest on the left stick between the strings. The string is drawing 4 triangles.
7. You can now let go of the left stick for as long as the diabolo has enough speed.
8. Grab your left stick and pull it down a bit, so the diabolo is not resting on the stick anymore. Then “pedal” backwards with your hands to undo the cradle and get back to the open string position.
