#101 – 1D Tuto – Arm Orbit Backcatch

This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.

The arm orbit backcatch is a cool variation of the arm orbit. This trick, like the arm orbit, will add speed to your diabolo so you can do it as long as you want or include it in the middle of a combo to accelerate your diabolo.

As always the tutorial is described for righties so if you are left handed switch right and left in the step by step explanation and anticlockwise with clockwise.

Prerequisites

Step By Step Explanation

1. In the arm orbit position, throw your diabolo over your right arm

2. Bring your right stick under your right arm as if you were doing an external wrap around it. Your right arm should be fully extended and almost parallel to the floor. The stick is pointing to the right

3. Catch your diabolo with the right string. This is the hardest part of the trick as you’re not clearly seeing your string being under the diabolo.

4. Do an anticlockwise sun around your arm to go back to the arm orbit position. If your sun is not wide enough, you may end up with an external wrap around your diabolo, so when you are learning this trick, make sure to exagerate the sun movement.

5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for as long as you want, or continue with an arm orbit trick.
