#35 – 1D Tuto – Crossed Stick Sun

This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.

The crossed stick sun is a variation of the sun where you end up in the open string position instead of the sun string position.

This trick can be done on the left and on the right, but will give speed to your diabolo if done on the left (if you are right handed) and will slow down your diabolo if done on the right. If you’re left handed it’s the opposite.

The tutorial is describing the crossed stick sun on the left, so if you want to learn it on the right, switch right and left in the step by step explanation.

Prerequisites

#3 Sun

Step By Step Explanation

1. Swing the diabolo to the left, keeping your sticks close together.

2. When the diabolo is above your left shoulder, bring the right stick under the left one, only holding it with your middle finger, ring finger and pinkie. The left stick should be pointing in front of you and the right stick on your left, forming a cross.

3. Point the right stick up and grab it above the left stick with your index finger and your thumb. The right stick should always point towards your diabolo, following the movement of the sun.

4. When the diabolo comes back down, your right wrist is doing all the work, keeping the right stick pointing to the diabolo.

5. When the diabolo is all the way down, you’re back in the open string position as crossing the sticks undoes the sun knot.
