Scisors are tricks where you start in an orbit position (arm, leg or body) and instead of throwing the diabolo around the arm (or leg or body), you do a darkside catch to the left (for righties).
This trick, like all scisors, is done on the left for righties and on the right for lefties and also gives spin to your diabolo. It’s a body move, so it helps if your string is not too short.
As always the tutorial is described for righties, so if you are left handed switch right and left in the step by step explanation.
Prerequisites
Step By Step Explanation
- Start with the open string position and some speed.
- Put your right arm above the string by pointing the sticks towards you. The sticks turns 180° on the outside. Your arm should draw an L with your hand being the top of the L and your elbow being at the angle.
- Lower your left hand to let your diabolo roll towards it.
- Throw the diabolo straight up, shoulder high and do a darkside catch. Your left hand is doing all the work.
- When the diabolo is on the darkside, follow through the movement gently swinging the diabolo over your right elbow. The diabolo will do a sun ending on top of the string over your right arm and the left stick will end up under your right arm. If you are too forceful or your left stick isn’t following the movement, the diabolo will fly straight to the right at high speed (be careful where you are when trying this trick out).
- Lower your right hand to stall the diabolo in front of you. Wait for the diabolo to be above your head to start lowering the hand.
- Lift your right hand to throw the diabolo back up while bringing back your left stick to the starting position (in step 2).
- Repeat steps 4 to 7 for as long as you want
