This is not a trick but a technique you have to master. There’s no going around it.
For the vast majority of tricks (except for vertax play), your diabolo’s axle needs to be horizontal to avoid dropping, tangling the string or losing too much speed.
The good news is it’s easy to learn and will soon become second nature.
As always, this tutorial is for righties. If you are left-handed, switch right and left.
Prerequisites
Step By Step Explanation
If the diabolo’s axle tilts forward (the cup near you is higher than the cup away from you), pull your right hand towards you until the axle is horizontal.
If the diabolo’s axle tilts backwards (the cup near you is lower than the cup away from you), push your right hand away from you.
In both cases, the string will put friction on the bottom of the cup that is too high and lowering it
When you are correcting, move your hand slowly in a straight line. You can continue accelerating the diabolo with the beginner acceleration.
Your right hand is doing all the work
What’s Next?
Once you can correct effortlessly, you can try to correct during tricks. For example in the trapeze position, during the infinite suicide, orbits or any tricks in which the diabolo is in contact with the string for some amount of time.
Getting familiar with correcting the tilt during orbits will speed up your mastery of 2 diabolos.
