#108 – 1D Tuto – One Handed Leg Orbit

This trick is part of the Diabolo Trick Roadmap (available on Amazon) which is a skill tree (containing 337 tricks from 1 to 3 diabolos) designed to give you a personalized list of tricks you’re ready to learn, taking into account the tricks you already know.

An orbit, as the name suggests, is a trick where the diabolo has a regular, repeating path around something (arm, leg, …). In this trick, the diabolo orbits around your leg and you perform the orbit with both sticks in one hand.

The one handed leg orbit, like any orbits done clockwise for righties (or anti-clockwise for lefties), gives spin to your diabolo. It’s a body move, so it helps if your string is not too short.

As always the tutorial is described for righties so if you are left handed switch right and left in the step by step explanation.

Prerequisites

#43 (1) Leg orbit

Step By Step Explanation

1. Start doing the leg orbit.

2. During the orbit, when the diabolo first touches the string on your right, put your left stick in your right hand.

3. Move your sticks up and down to continue the orbit motion. Your sticks go down when the diabolo travels from the right of the string to the middle of it. When the diabolo has passed your leg, start moving the sticks up to throw the diabolo over your leg to the right. It helps to keep your sticks close together as there won’t be any space for the diabolo to “escape” the orbit.

4. To exit the one handed leg orbit, grab the left stick with your left hand when the diabolo is travelling the string. You are now in the normal leg orbit.
